Our Full Moon is on August 11 at 9:36 pm EDT in this lunar cycle. A Full Moon in Aquarius at its core deals with themes around groups, brainstorming, new ways of doing things, innovation, and the needs of the group versus the needs of the individual.
Not only do we have a Full Moon this week, but on the same day we have the Sun square Uranus, Mars sextile Neptune, and Venus entering Leo.
With a Full Moon, the Moon and Sun are opposite each other in the sky, creating tension for us to work with. This tension, this fullness, brings things to light. This is a time of celebrating and recognizing your accomplishments (For a breakdown of the entire lunar cycle, go here).
For a Full Moon in Aquarius, the Sun is in Leo, and the Moon is in Aquarius. The Sun in Leo is focused on the self, the ego, and shining in the spotlight as an individual. The Moon in Aquarius reflects the needs of the group, working together and creating and innovating for the whole or good of all. Because the Moon is conjunct Saturn, while square Mars and Uranus, we're wrapped up once again in the story of the old vs. new, the modern vs. conservative, doing things we the way they have always been done vs. being open to change and innovation. This story has come up over and over during the past two years, thanks to the Saturn square Uranus that occurred three times last year. The sign of Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet that governs technology, unexpected events, innovation and invention, and the nervous system. Even though Uranus can be lightning quick, Saturn is sitting next to this Moon, encouraging us to focus on the long-term. Changes we make or strive to make during this time won't happen overnight. We have to be focused on the future and recognize that one day we'll get there.
The influence of Saturn right next to the Moon can indicate that we may be caught up in a scarcity mindset, that our viewpoint could be bleak, depressed, and restricted. We feel like we just can't get what we need. It's a stuck-in-the-mud feeling, no matter how much we rev the wheels and try to take action.
Uranus square this Moon can boost our anxiety, self-doubt, and overall feelings of nervousness or excitement. It may feel hard to sit still - like our skin is crawling, too tight, or we're about to burst apart. This transit can also make you want to step outside your comfort zone and try something new.
Venus enters Leo in the afternoon today, helping us boldly express our passions and desires and show we care through dramatic displays of affection. We'll feel this ingress through September 4.
Mars sextiles Neptune this evening, making this evening great for a date night. Mars sextile Neptune gives you the energy to act on your desires and dreams, bringing out your passions and helping you be sensitive to the needs of others. You can form deep connections with others during this time.
This Full Moon is a wonderful time to do a ritual around honoring and recognizing your boundaries and celebrating how you separate your needs from the needs of others. Holding boundaries and recognizing your needs is hard work and often something we have to learn ourselves if we didn't have role models showing us how to do this when we were younger.
- How sturdy are your boundaries?
- Do you cave to the group or stand on your own?
- What structures in your life require innovation?
