This beautiful necklace features an absolutely gorgeous rhyolite cabochon that has been soldered into a pendant. Cabochon is framed by a small plaque that has been hand stamped and reads ‘Quod me nutruit me destruit’ which is Latin for ‘That which nourishes me, destroys me’. The entire piece has been coated in a black patina and sealed to prevent tarnish.
The rhyolite cabochon is in the shape of a shield, and when I first saw it I immediately though of Persephone, with the deep reds and earth tones. The shield made me thing of Persephone’s strength in adapting and surviving, and the quote just adds depth to that. Persephone’s story is about facing our darkness and spending time with it and acknowledging it. Just like Persephone returns to the Underworld, we return to face our own inner darkness again and again.
Rhyolite helps us to process the past and integrate it with the present, helping us to live in the moment. It aids in bringing insight and resolution to difficulties, and enhances self esteem, self worth, self respect and deepens the acceptance of our true self. It helps us to heal old emotional wounds and to deal with challenging circumstances calmly and with inner strength.
Pendant is 2″ tall and 1.25″ wide and hangs on a 18″ silver plated chain that closes with a lobster clasp.
Necklace will arrive gift boxed, ready for giving, and ships within 2 business days of ordering.
